Davies Chama Obtains Bail Pending Appeal, One year later!
Former Defence Minister Davies Chama has been released from prison on bail pending the hearing and determination of his appeal against an eight-year jail sentence with hard labour.
Chama had been serving the sentence after he was convicted in connection with a shooting incident during the 2015 Mulobezi Parliamentary by-election in Western Province.
The incident occurred on 6 June 2015 at Lingulyangulya Plains in Mulobezi District, where Chama, who was then serving as PF Secretary General, was part of the party’s campaign team. The case involved the shooting and wounding of UPND supporter Mushaukwa Mushaukwa.
Chama challenged the sentence through an appeal, and the court has now granted him bail pending the outcome of the appeal.
