A 32-year-old man identified as Andrew Edwin Simwimba of Kabanana Site and Service, Lusaka who was a driver for City Frontiers in Lusaka died yesterday in Kazungula after being run over by an unknown truck.

The accident which claimed the life of the victim occurred between 04:00 hours and 07:00 hours at the Kazungula Bridge Point Truck Park on August 24, 2026.

Mr Simwimba sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Kazungula District Hospital and his body has been taken to Batoka Hospital Mortuary in Livingstone awaiting post-mortem examination.

This is according to a statement issued by Southern Province Commanding Officer, Moono Namalongo.

Mr Namalongo disclosed that preliminary investigations indicate that the pedestrian, who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol or drugs, was lying in the truck park when he was run over by an unknown truck bearing an unknown registration number and being driven by an unknown driver.

“The circumstances surrounding the accident are subject to further investigation. The Zambia Police Service is appealing to the driver involved or anyone with information that may assist in identifying the vehicle and driver to report to the nearest police station,” Mr Namalongo said.
