DRC’s Simba headlines pre-season tourney

The stage is set for a four-team pre-season international tournament featuring Congolese side AS Simba alongside Zambian Super Division giants Red Arrows, ZESCO United and Power Dynamos at the Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe and Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola from 20-22 August 2026.

AS Simba, formed in 2002 and based in Kolwezi, Lualaba Province of the DRC, come into the tournament as reigning champions of the 59th Congo Cup.

Last year, the government-owned club defeated MK from Kinshasa 1-0 at Stade des Martyrs to lift the ‘President’s Cup’.

The visiting club is already in Zambia for the tournament.

Matches on 20 and 21 August will be played at Arthur Davies Stadium, Kitwe.

The final round of matches will take place on 22 August at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, Ndola.

The tournament is expected to give all four teams competitive preparation ahead of the 2026 MTN Super League Transition Season, which kicks off on 2nd October 2026.

Power defender Kondwani Chiboni says the team is looking forward to the competition.

“We have a tournament coming up on Thursday, please come in numbers and support us,” Chiboni said.

The tournament will allow players and technical benches to assess their teams’ readiness before the new season.
