The Church in Zambia, through Bishop Billy Mfula of the Advocates of the Declaration of Zambia as a Christian Nation, has urged political players and citizens to accept election results, maintain peace, and focus on national unity.

In an interview with the media, Bishop Mfula advised election candidates who do not win to stay focused and get ready for future chances saying that true leadership happens at the right time.

“To those who will not succeed, accept the outcome and you will succeed next time, “ he said.

He pointed out that political actors should recognise that failing to secure leadership at a particular time does not amount to failure, but may simply mean that their time has not yet come.

Bishop Mfula has further called on church mother bodies to preach peace and unity.

The call comes as the country awaits the conclusion of the electoral process, with stakeholders being urged to prioritise peace, unity and national interests.
