CHIEFS VISIT MUNDUBILE, MAKEBI AND 16 OTHERS, DEMAND SWIFT COURT APPEARANCE

Their Royal Highnesses Chief Mpepo Impepo Nga Yaisa Kutunkana Nokuifimbamo Kumbela, Chief Mabumba Wa Mabumba Ni Ntambalukuta, and Chief Kalaba Uwakasosele Takalaba Mwenu have visited incarcerated opposition leaders Brian Mundubile, Makebi Zulu and 16 others at Mukobeko Maximum Correctional Facility.

The opposition leaders are facing alleged charges of treason and seditious practices.

The traditional leaders had an opportunity to interact with the incarcerated leaders and establish their welfare.

They said although it was difficult to access the inmates, officers from the Zambia Correctional Service remained professional.

The traditional leaders said the incarcerated politicians are in good health and high spirits, contrary to reports and speculation that they were not doing well.

They have called for the incarcerated individuals to appear before the courts as quickly as possible because there is need for justice to be served.

The traditional leaders said the inmates are demanding to be taken to court to face the legal process.

They said politics should be about unity and peace and should preach love for one another rather than divisions and hatred.

And on the de@th of former Lunte Member of Parliament Mutotwe Kafwaya, the traditional leaders have questioned whether what is happening amounts to justice or injustice.

They said they are concerned about the circumstances surrounding the former lawmaker’s de@th and are demanding answers on who authorised his killing.

They have since called for the respect for human life and dignity adding  that Zambia is a Christian Nation hence the need to follow Christian Values.

“There should be respect for human life and dignity. There is need for Justice to prevail in this matter. We want appropriate legal processes to take their course.”
