The Independent Churches of Zambia (ICOZ), has congratulated President Hakainde Hichilema on his re-election following the country’s August 13, 2026 General Elections.

ICOZ President, David Masupa commended Zambians for maintaining peace and calm throughout the electoral process and following the announcement of the results.

Bishop Masupa said the Church was grateful that the elections had been conducted in a peaceful environment, while extending condolences to families that may have lost loved ones during the electoral process.

“ICOZ would like to congratulate President Hakainde Hichilema for having emerged winner with a landslide victory across the ten provinces of Zambia. We thank the people of Zambia for having entrusted him to serve for the second term of office together with her honour the Vice President, Mutale Nalumango,” Bishop Masupa said.

He called on Members of Parliament, Mayors, Council Chairpersons and Councillors across the country to work with the President in promoting national development and economic growth, regardless of political affiliations.

Bishop Masupa further urged Zambians to remain united and love one another, while discouraging the abuse of social media.

“We wish the President God’s wisdom as he implements his vision for Zambia during the second term of office, and we pray that all elected leaders will work together to engender national development and enhance economic growth,” he said.

Bishop Masupa also paid tribute to the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) Chairperson, Commissioners and auxiliary staff, law enforcement agencies and media houses for their contribution towards the successful conduct of the 2026 general elections.
