Zambia’s journey to the August 2026 General Election has reached another defining milestone, with the first consignment of ballot papers arriving at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport amid heightened public anticipation.
The arrival of the ballot papers signals that the country’s electoral process is entering its final and most critical phase, bringing millions of eligible voters one step closer to casting their ballots.
Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) Chairperson Mwangala Zaloumis, accompanied by political party representatives, election stakeholders and observers, was at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport to witness the arrival of the ballot papers as part of the Commission’s transparency and accountability measures.
The papers are expected to undergo the necessary verification and security procedures before being distributed across the country for the August polls.
As election day draws closer, attention now shifts from campaign rallies to the integrity of the voting process, with Zambians eagerly awaiting an election that will determine the country’s next political chapter.
The arrival of the ballot papers marks a significant moment in the electoral calendar, underscoring that the countdown to one of Zambia’s most consequential democratic exercises is now firmly underway.
