TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR WELLBEING COORDINATOR 1. Key Information Role Wellbeing Coordinator Location Based in Lusaka, Zambia. Set up On-site at Pathway Centre location (exact location to be determined). Reports to BTG Pathway Centre Manager Works closely with Senior Coach, Internship Coach and other Pathway Centre team members Contract Type Full-time, starting with one year, with the possibility of renewal Desired start date ASAP 2. Background Be That Girl (BTG) is a philanthropic organisation dedicated to helping adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) lead self-determined lives. We provide holistic support to AGYW from secondary education to post-secondary pathways, focusing on scholarships, mentoring, skills training, and community-based support systems. BTG is opening a Pathway Centre in Lusaka to help young women who have completed secondary education with BTG support successfully transition into post-secondary pathways. The Centre will equip them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to transition to one or more of the 3 Es: Entrepreneurship, higher education, and Employment. Physical and emotional wellbeing, resilience, and safety are key for girls and young women to lead self-determined lives. With this in mind, we are looking for an experienced Wellbeing Coordinator with knowledge in areas including SRHR, mental health and GBV protection. This role will empower girls and young women supported through the Pathway Centre with accurate knowledge and referrals to understand and exercise their general health, SRHR, mental health and protection from GBV rights. Job Description The Wellbeing Coordinator will support the sexual and reproductive health, general health, mental health, emotional wellbeing, resilience, and safety of girls and young women at the BTG Pathway Centre. The role combines group education, the development of a strong network of referrals across both health/SRHR and psychosocial/GBV services, and the provision of on-to-one counselling to identify referral needs. The overall goal of the role is ensuring Pathway Centre participant can identify and access the services they need for holistic health and wellbeing. 4. Key Responsibilities Group training & education at the Pathway Centre · Design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate group sessions at the Pathway Centre on SRHR, bodily autonomy, reproductive health, contraception, menstrual health, consent, healthy relationships and general health rights, as well as psychosocial skills, mental health awareness, stress management, self-esteem, emotional resilience, and the prevention of GBV. · Build trust with participants to create an enabling environment for open learning and sharing. One-on-one counselling · Provide confidential, non-judgmental and trauma-informed one-to-one counselling to Pathway Centre participants, helping them identify the services they need and how to access them through the Centre’s referral network. · Support participants in developing personal health plans and individual psychosocial support plans, and in navigating sensitive issues. · Monitor participant progress and provide tailored guidance across SRHR, general health, and psychosocial/mental health matters. · Maintain confidentiality and safeguarding through the process. Access to services & referrals · Identify, map, and build strong relationships with a network of trusted referral partners, including health facilities, clinics, family planning and youth-friendly services, GBV shelters, mental health clinics, hospitals, NGOs, and community-based counsellors. · Educate participants on where and how to access these services. · Ensure participants are able to access the services they need through such referral network. · Where services incur a cost, work closely with the Operations Manager to plan financing from the Pathway Centre to cover for those. Collaboration & community engagement · Identify like-minded organisations that provide SRHR, health, and mental health education services to enhance best practice sharing and learnings. · Participate in coordinating key Pathway Centre activities and events, innovatively incorporating SRHR, health, psychosocial and GBV components to support the girls. · Facilitate young women’s participation in GBV and Mental Health-related commemorative events. · Support community dialogues organized by the Pathway Centre Manager with families and school communities with content on SRHR, girls’ health rights, and psychosocial wellbeing, where appropriate. Case Management for GBV survivors · Primary point of contact for GBV survivors among Pathway Centre participants. · Maintains confidential case files (often using GBVIMS or similar systems). · Provides emotional support, psychoeducation, and follow-up to survivors. · Coordinates referrals to health, legal, security, and other services. 5. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) • Deliver 100% of planned group sessions (SRHR, health and psychosocial) at the Centre. • Provide timely one-on-one counselling to participants, ensuring they are clear on how to access the services they need. • High participant satisfaction and knowledge improvement across group and one-to-one sessions (target >85%). • Establish and maintain active referral partnerships with at least 8–10 health service providers and 8–10 psychosocial/GBV service providers. • Reduction in reported unintended pregnancies and increased uptake of SRHR and general health services among participants. • All services and cases handled with full confidentiality and adherence to safeguarding standards. 6. Qualifications & Experience Required: • Degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or a related health/psychosocial field. • Certification or specialised training in SRHR, family planning, or adolescent health, and/or in trauma-informed care, GBV counselling, or psychosocial support (proficiency across both areas strongly preferred). • Minimum 4 years of experience delivering SRHR, general health and/or psychosocial, GBV or mental health education and counselling to adolescent girls and young women. • Excellent knowledge of the Zambian health and education systems and youth SRHR and referral services in Lusaka. Advantageous: • Experience working in school or community settings. • Experience in GBV prevention/response and adolescent-friendly health services. • Experience delivering group sessions to youths. 7. Skills & Competencies • Excellent facilitation and group training skills. • Strong one-on-one counselling and communication skills on sensitive topics. • Ability to create safe, trusting spaces for open discussion. • Good networking and partnership-building abilities with health and psychosocial/GBV service providers. • High level of confidentiality, empathy, cultural sensitivity, and adherence to ethical standards. • Strong understanding of safeguarding best practices. • Fluency in English and at least one local language (Nyanja, Bemba preferred). 8.
