Job description: Overall, Job Purpose To assist the Aggregate crusher section with stockpiling material management, select materials and assist with any other tasks assigned by the Crusher Supervisor. Specific Job Responsibility Conduct prestart and post inspection of an excavator. Ensuring that the housekeeping of the machine is well maintained to a good standard. Report mechanical defects immediately. Make sure material management is done correctly. Ensure good operation practices. Maintain water drainage as required by supervisor. Report all substandard/unsafe conditions to Supervisor. Follow applicable safety procedures. Ability to follow and execute work instructions in a safe and orderly manner. Carry out any other tasks as may be delegated upon you by the supervisor. Job Specific Competencies Good communication skills. Knowledge in operating a excavator or similar equipment. Must possess knowledge on how to do the pre- start on the machine. Must be able to identify defects. Must be conversant with controls/parts and their functions on a machine. Must possess knowledge about machine shut down and emergency procedures. Must be able to operate a two-way radio and be able to use of modular system. Key Job Attributes Attention to detail. Must possess excellent communication skills. Must possess excellent problem-solving skills. Must be flexible to work and attend any shift as assigned. Must have the ability to multi-task. Personal accountability. Must be an active listener. Must be able to effectively manage time.Must be self-driven. Experience required to perform in this job Experience required to perform in this job At least 5 years’ experience in mining and heavy earthwork machinery operation. Knowledge of operating a excavator and its mechanical capabilities. Qualifications Full Grade 12 School Certificate. Valid Driver’s license with at least 2 years driving experience.
