OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY INSTITUTE (OHSI) Occupational Health and Safety Institute (OHSI) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Labour and Social Security established under the Occupational Health and Safety Act No. 16 of 2025. It has its offices situated in Kitwe with two branch offices in Solwezi and Lusaka. In addition to the 3 centres, the Institute also offers occupational health and safety (OHS) services to all the sectors throughout the country on outreach basis. The Institute is looking for suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following positions of: 1.0 DRIVER [1 POSITION- SOLWEZI OFFICE] JOB OBJECTIVE To drive Institutional vehicles in order to facilitate mobility of officers, materials or/and equipment and ensure that they are in good condition at all times. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Conversant with the operations mechanism of light vehicles and passenger buses; and ensuring that they are in road worthy condition, perfect state of cleanliness, insured and with valid road tax, etc., before they are used; and that they are driven on official duties only. Ensures that passengers take safety precautions, such as wearing of safety belts before any journey begins. Delivers materials and personnel to instructed destinations, ensuring safety at all times. Reports any instance of mishap or accident to the Supervisor for timely action. Ensures security of the vehicle at all times and that the vehicle is parked only in a secured place when not in use. Must be a Lusaka resident with an excellent, practical knowledge of Lusaka routes, neighborhoods, and surrounding areas. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Grade 12 school certificate. PSV Driver’s license with eligibility to drive buses. 5 years’ experience working as a driver with a reputable organization. Excellent knowledge of all Zambian traffic rules and Road Traffic and Safety Agency (RTSA) regulations. Knowledge of basic mechanics. Effective interpersonal and communication skills with customer service orientation. 2.0 ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT x 2 [1 POSITION- LUSAKA OFFICE] [1 POSITION- KITWE OFFICE] JOB OBJECTIVE To undertake effectively receiving, banking and payments, maintenance of records in order to facilitate accountability and efficient storage and retrieval of information. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Undertakes effectively timely and accurately issuance of receipts to clients in order to enhance accountability. Undertakes effectively timely processing of payments in order to maintain efficiency. Undertakes effectively the filing of all financial records in order to facilitate safe storage, audit trail and historical reference. Undertakes and consolidates effectively financial records in order to facilitate timely and accurate financial statements. Undertakes effectively provision of up-to-dated banking records in order to facilitate accurate financial records and retrieval of information. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. Registered member of Zambia Institute of Certified Accountants (ZICA). 3.0 DEBT COLLECTOR [1 POSITION- KITWE OFFICE] JOB OBJECTIVE To undertake the negotiating of payment plans and recovery of overdue payments from receivables in order to improve the liquidity of the Institute and facilitate implementation of programs. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Undertakes effectively the identification and follow up of individuals or businesses with overdue accounts in order to recover funds owed to the Institute. Undertakes effectively the processing and agreement of payment plans with clients on the receivables list in order to prevent financial losses and make receivables recoverable. Undertakes effectively maintenance of receivables records and tracking payment in order to ensure a correct database and facilitate decision making. Undertakes effectively the provision of source documents and input for demand notices in order to facilitate the legal processes in the recovery of overdue debts. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Grade 12 school certificate. Bachelor of Accountancy, CA Advanced Diploma/ACCA Level 2/CIMA Level 3 or its equivalent. 3 years’ experience. Able to write comprehensive and analytical financial reports. Registered member of Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA). 4.0 ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT – MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING [1 POSITION- KITWE OFFICE] JOB OBJECTIVE To undertake effectively financial analysis and preparation of financial and management reports in order to facilitate efficient decision making and achievement of the Institute’s objectives. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Undertakes effectively customer invoices and weekly receivable reconciliations in order to accurately keep the receivables report up-to-date. Undertakes effectively data compilation for monthly management accounts and produce standard variance reports for departments in order to have timely, accurate and well-presented financial data to monitor performance. Undertakes and Updates effectively the fixed asset register for new acquisitions, transfers, disposals, monthly depreciation amounts and take part in the annual physical verification of assets in order to support correct financial reporting and asset control. Undertakes effectively the collection of budget inputs for initial consolidation of departmental budget submissions and perform basic sensitivity analysis on forecast assumptions in order to create practical financial plans and forecasts. Undertakes and collects effectively cost data from various sources, and perform analysis of cost trends, highlighting significant variances for review in order to provide reliable data for cost control efforts. Undertakes tracking and reports effectively expenditure against specific grant and communicate with project staff to collect financial information in order to accurately monitor grant funds and meet project deadlines. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Grade 12 school certificate. Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy or CA-Diploma/ACCA Level 2/CIMA Level 3 or its equivalent. 3 years’ experience. Able to write moderate analytical financial reports. Registered member of Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA). 5.0 MONITORING AND EVALUATION ANALYST [1 POSITION- KITWE OFFICE] JOB OBJECTIVE To undertake monitoring and evaluation of OHS related activities in order to assess their effectiveness, facilitate implementation of appropriate interventions and ensure attainment of set goals. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Undertakes effectively data collection related to the Institute activities, programs, inspections, training and research in order to provide data for analysis. Undertakes effectively maintenance of the information management system and updating of the M&E database in order to ensure safe storage and generation of information. Undertakes effectively trend analysis in order to generate evidence to support policy development and programme improvement. Undertakes effectively the development and review of M&E frameworks, indicators, tools and reporting systems in order to facilitate effective monitoring and evaluation of the Institution and other OHS related activities, policies, programmes and projects. Undertakes effectively monitoring and evaluation of the Institutes programmes and projects and other OHS related activities, policies, programmes and projects in order to facilitate the implementation of appropriate interventions. Undertakes effectively the preparation of quarterly, annual, and other progress reports in order to ensure accountability and facilitate decision making. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Grade 12 school certificate. Bachelor’s Degree in Economics/Statistics/Demography or equivalent. 3 years’ experience. Registered Member of the relevant professional body. Able to write comprehensive and analytical reports.
