Job Description Position: Loan Officer Reports To: Branch Manager Job Purpose The Loan Officer is responsible for identifying prospective clients, assessing their financial needs, processing loan applications, and managing a quality loan portfolio. The role aims to achieve loan growth while ensuring compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and sound credit practices. The Loan Officer also builds and maintains strong client relationships to promote customer satisfaction and portfolio performance. Key Duties and Responsibilities Identify, recruit, and onboard new clients to meet monthly loan disbursement targets. Market and promote the company’s loan products to individuals, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and government employees. Assess clients’ creditworthiness by conducting financial analysis, verifying documentation, and performing field assessments where necessary. Process loan applications from initial inquiry through approval, disbursement, and post-disbursement monitoring. Educate clients on loan products, eligibility requirements, repayment terms, interest rates, and company policies. Maintain accurate and complete loan documentation in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory standards. Monitor assigned loan portfolios to ensure timely repayments and proactively follow up on overdue accounts. Implement collection strategies to minimise loan delinquency and maintain portfolio quality. Build and maintain professional relationships with clients to encourage repeat business and referrals. Ensure compliance with company policies, lending procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations. Prepare and submit accurate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on loan sales, portfolio performance, collections, and client activities. Participate in marketing campaigns, community outreach programmes, and financial literacy initiatives to increase business growth. Keep abreast of market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory developments affecting lending operations. Perform any other duties assigned by Management. Key Performance Areas (KPAs) The Loan Officer’s performance shall be measured against, but not limited to, the following: Achievement of monthly loan origination and disbursement targets. Growth in active client base. Portfolio quality and repayment performance. Collection efficiency and reduction of delinquent accounts. Accuracy and completeness of loan documentation. Compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Client satisfaction and relationship management. Timely submission of reports and administrative records. Contribution to branch profitability and business growth. Minimum Qualifications Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Marketing, or a related field. Previous experience in lending, microfinance, banking, sales, or customer service is an added advantage. Good understanding of credit assessment and loan management principles. Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure and consistently achieve performance targets.
