We are looking for skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanics to become key members of our maintenance team, supporting critical mining operations across Zambia. About the Heavy Equipment Mechanic Role As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and safety of heavy mobile machinery used in mining activities. This full-time position requires expertise in inspection, maintenance, and repair of equipment to maximize operational availability. Key Responsibilities for Heavy Equipment Mechanic Jobs in Kalumbila Inspect, maintain, and repair heavy mobile equipment including excavators, dozers, and dump trucks. Perform fault finding, diagnostics, and troubleshooting to quickly identify and resolve mechanical issues. Carry out planned maintenance and respond efficiently to breakdown repairs. Replace components adhering strictly to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards. Ensure all maintenance and repair work complies with safety regulations and quality standards. Accurately complete job cards and maintenance records for all tasks performed. Collaborate closely with supervisors and team members to maintain equipment availability and reliability. Essential Skills and Qualifications Possess a Craft Certificate, Advanced Craft Certificate, Trade Test Certificate (Grade I-III), Diploma, or Degree in Mechanical or Heavy Equipment Engineering, or an equivalent qualification in Heavy Equipment or Diesel Mechanics. At least five years of hands-on experience working with heavy mining or earth-moving machinery. Proven expertise with equipment such as Komatsu excavators, dozers, dump trucks, and CAT 777 trucks or similar models. Strong knowledge of planned maintenance systems and effective breakdown repair techniques. Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities with a disciplined and accountable work ethic. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team under pressure in fast-paced environments. Willingness to work shifts and adhere to site-based schedules.
