Role Overview: Health and Nutrition Coordinator The Health and Nutrition Coordinator will design, implement, and oversee high-quality health and nutrition projects tailored to Zambia’s development and humanitarian context. This role involves providing strategic and technical guidance to project teams, ensuring compliance with Action Against Hunger and donor standards, and fostering capacity building among health and nutrition staff. The Coordinator will also lead program design, proposal development, fundraising support, recruitment, and procurement activities. Key Responsibilities for Health and Nutrition Coordinator Jobs in Nchelenge Program Implementation and Quality Assurance: Lead the health and nutrition program strategy, support financial and technical execution, develop harmonized implementation tools, conduct field visits, and ensure integration of health and nutrition across all programs. Quality Improvement: Initiate continuous learning programs, facilitate workshops, promote best practices, analyze data trends, and conduct bi-annual sector reviews to enhance program quality. Staff Leadership and Development: Manage and mentor the Nutrition and Health team, coordinate recruitment, oversee performance management, and develop training programs to strengthen team capacity. Fundraising and Proposal Development: Conduct needs assessments, align proposals with donor priorities, lead technical proposal writing, identify local partners, and maintain updated donor mappings. Strategic Planning: Support country strategy development, cascade strategic plans into departmental objectives, and monitor implementation progress within the Health and Nutrition sector. Monitoring and Evaluation: Collaborate with MEAL teams to standardize and digitalize data collection tools, review program indicators, coordinate research assessments, and ensure accurate reporting to stakeholders. Representation and Coordination: Represent Action Against Hunger in technical meetings, liaise with government ministries, development partners, and other stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and program alignment. Required Qualifications and Experience Master’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Global Health, or a related field; BSc in Nutrition is also acceptable. At least four years of experience in a similar role with increasing responsibility. Minimum six years of combined humanitarian and development experience. Technical expertise in nutrition and health approaches such as IMAM, MIYCAN, health systems strengthening, community health, advocacy, and policy development. Familiarity with gender mainstreaming, disaster risk management, urban health, surveillance, MEAL, or emergency preparedness is an advantage. Proven experience in capacity building, assessment, monitoring, and evaluation. Experience working with institutional and UN donors, including ECHO/EC, USAID, DFID, SIDA, WFP, and private funding sources. Strong communication, writing, analytical, influencing, representation, and negotiation skills. Proficiency in English is required. Familiarity with Action Against Hunger’s principles and values is preferred. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements This position requires regular office attendance and availability to work outside standard hours when necessary. The Coordinator must be physically fit to travel to field locations, which may involve challenging environments, including long-distance walking and basic living conditions.
