Makeni Institute Trust is seeking to recruit a qualified and highly motivated Handyman / Maintenance Technician to join our maintenance team. Key Responsibilities Carry out routine maintenance and repairs of buildings, equipment, and facilities. Perform plumbing repairs, including water supply and drainage systems. Diagnose and repair basic electrical faults and installations. Undertake mechanical fitting and maintenance of machinery and equipment. Perform carpentry, painting, welding, and other general maintenance works as required. Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs and prevent breakdowns. Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies. Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, safe working environment. Ensure all maintenance work complies with health and safety standards. Minimum Requirements Diploma, or Craft qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Electrical Engineering, Plumbing, General Maintenance, Building Maintenance, or a related technical field from a recognised institution. At least 3 years’ practical experience in building or facility maintenance. Demonstrable knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, metal fabrication, mechanical fitting, and general repairs. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and maintenance manuals will be an added advantage. A valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage. Skills and Competencies Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Honest, reliable, and self-motivated. Physically fit and capable of undertaking manual work. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to prioritise tasks and respond effectively to emergencies.
