About the Role The Fleet Maintenance & Accident Officer will play a critical role in supporting the company’s vehicle fleet by managing accident responses, coordinating maintenance activities, overseeing repairs, and maintaining comprehensive records. The successful candidate will work both in the office and on the field, liaising with drivers, workshops, insurers, and internal teams to ensure vehicles are promptly and effectively returned to service. Key Responsibilities for Fleet Maintenance & Accident Officer Jobs in Lusaka Coordinate accident response procedures including receiving reports, gathering documentation, following up on police reports, and ensuring timely internal communication. Liaise with insurers, assessors, garages, workshops, drivers, and management regarding accident-related matters. Track all accident cases from initial report through repair completion, insurance decisions, excess payments, vehicle release, and redeployment. Manage vehicle repairs, breakdown responses, routine servicing, inspections, and maintenance follow-ups. Maintain accurate records of faults, repairs, service history, accident cases, quotations, invoices, and job cards. Follow up with workshops and mechanics to ensure repairs are completed within agreed timelines. Monitor vehicle condition including cleanliness, roadworthiness, mileage, tyres, brakes, lights, oil, water levels, and general mechanical status. Report recurring mechanical issues, driver negligence, poor vehicle handling, or maintenance abuse. Assist with spare parts sourcing, quotation follow-up, and documentation as needed. Support the Fleet Manager in maximizing vehicle uptime, minimizing downtime, maintaining proper documentation, and enforcing disciplined fleet control. Conduct field visits to inspect vehicles, follow up on workshop activities, attend breakdowns, or assist with accident documentation. Prepare regular reports on maintenance, accidents, repairs, and vehicle status. Candidate Requirements At least 2 years’ experience in fleet operations, vehicle maintenance coordination, accident handling, insurance claims, or related fields. Diploma or Degree in Transport & Logistics, Insurance, Automotive Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline. Valid driver’s license is mandatory. Practical knowledge of vehicle maintenance, repairs, breakdowns, and inspection procedures. Experience with insurance claims, police reports, garages, workshops, vehicle inspections, and spare parts follow-up is advantageous. Additional certification or knowledge in vehicle maintenance is a plus. Ability to work efficiently both in office and field environments. Strong communication, reporting, follow-up, and record-keeping skills. Computer literacy with capability to prepare reports using standard office software.
