Job Description VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT: COMMUNITY LIAISON INTERN Lumwana Mining Company is seeking to recruit a highly committed individual for the position of Community Liaison Intern to join the versatile Community Relations team. Reporting to the Senior Community Relations Officer – Community Liaison, you will be responsible for serving as a primary bridge between Lumwana Mining Company and the surrounding communities by building trust, fostering positive relationships, and establishing effective communication channels between the Company and community stakeholders. Your Duties and Responsibilities will include but not limited to the following: Support the planning, promotion, and coordination of community meetings, events, and outreach programmes. Distribute approved informational materials and communicate the organization’s mission, programmes, and initiatives to community members. Assist in coordinating community meetings and stakeholder engagement activities. Maintain direct and professional contact with community members and stakeholders. Support the collection, recording, and analysis of community feedback, grievances, and stakeholder sentiment. Identify community groups and support the development of partnerships and collaborations that promote genuine community empowerment. Support the implementation and monitoring of community development initiatives and programmes. Assist in conducting community surveys, consultations, awareness campaigns, and other engagement activities. Support the Community Liaison team in maintaining positive and constructive relationships with local communities, traditional leaders, and other stakeholders. Assist in identifying emerging community concerns and ensure that matters requiring management attention are promptly escalated. Participate in community site visits, field assessments, and outreach activities as required. Maintain community engagement calendars and assist in tracking meetings, events, activities, and commitments. Promote respectful, transparent, and culturally appropriate engagement with community members and stakeholders. To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements: Full Grade 12 School Certificate. Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies, Social Work, Adult Education or a related discipline. Previous exposure to community engagement, social development, stakeholder relations, or community development programmes will be an added advantage. Valid Driver’s License, with a minimum of two (2) years’ driving experience, an added advantage. Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, interpersonal, and time-management skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Strong appreciation and understanding of local cultural dynamics, traditions, norms, and community values, with the ability to build genuine trust and maintain respectful relationships. Ability to communicate effectively in at least one local language, preferably Kaonde or Lunda. Strong interpersonal and relationship-management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with community members, traditional leaders, stakeholders, and diverse teams.
