About the Role: Civil Engineer Tailings Jobs in Kalumbila Reporting directly to the Project Lead – LEP, the successful candidate will lead the construction execution of the Tailings Storage Facility and Water Storage Facilities (TSF/WSF). These projects demand strict adherence to safety, quality, budget, and schedule requirements. The Lumwana Expansion TSF will significantly increase tailings storage capacity to two billion tons, marking it as a landmark project in the mining sector. The key responsibilities include: Supervising and coordinating daily construction activities to ensure safety, efficiency, and quality. Managing contractors, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary construction teams across earthworks, concrete, SMPP, electrical, C&I, roads, utilities, and water/sewer reticulation. Ensuring compliance with the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM), site-specific tailings management systems, and regulatory requirements. Overseeing embankment construction, TSF raises, filter zones, drainage, decant structures, spillways, seepage control, and water management infrastructure. Reviewing survey data, construction records, quality control results, and materials compliance documentation. Monitoring schedules, identifying risks, and implementing mitigation strategies to meet project milestones. Executing work according to approved Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and Permit-to-Work systems. Conducting site inspections, safety audits, toolbox talks, and quality reviews. Coordinating interfaces between contractors, engineers, surveyors, quality teams, and operations personnel. Implementing Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) processes including inspections, testing, defect management, and project close-out activities. Maintaining accurate construction records, daily reports, progress tracking, cost awareness, and documentation for TSF certification and regulatory compliance. Participating in project progress meetings and providing updates on safety, quality, schedule, risk, and overall project performance. Candidate Requirements for Civil Engineer Tailings Jobs in Kalumbila Applicants must meet the following qualifications and experience criteria: Full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Registered Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ). Minimum of 4 years’ experience in mining project execution, including at least 2 years in TSF, WSF, large earthworks, or major mine infrastructure projects. In-depth knowledge of TSF construction methodologies such as embankment raises, seepage control, drainage systems, decant structures, and spillways. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Office Suite, MS Project, Primavera, or similar project management software.
