About the Business Development Manager Role in Lusaka Our client seeks a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to spearhead strategic partnerships with key banks and financial institutions across Zambia. This role demands deep industry knowledge and the ability to cultivate and close high-value banking partnerships, particularly within the fintech space. Key Responsibilities Banking Partnership Development: Identify and secure partnerships with major Zambian banks such as Zanaco, Stanbic, Absa, FNB, AB Bank, and ZICB. Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong connections with senior banking executives including Heads of Corporate Banking, Treasury, Digital Banking, and Fintech Partnerships. Deal Negotiation and Closure: Lead negotiations, manage the entire deal lifecycle from initial engagement through to contract signing. Stakeholder Coordination: Work closely with internal teams and banking partners to complete due diligence and secure necessary approvals. Market Intelligence: Monitor developments in the banking and financial sectors, including regulatory changes and emerging partnership opportunities. Qualifications and Experience Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Banking, or a related discipline. Professional Experience: 5 to 10 years in Zambian banking or financial services, with expertise in Corporate Banking, Commercial Banking, Enterprise Lending, Digital Banking, or Fintech Partnerships. Experience working with or within major Zambian banks is strongly preferred. Knowledge of digital lending, SME and microfinance banking in Africa, and familiarity with bank funding pools, white-label lending, and partnership lending models. Networks: Established relationships with decision-makers at manager level and above within Zambian banks, with the ability to independently secure meetings with senior executives. Skills and Competencies Exceptional business development, negotiation, and relationship management abilities. Strong understanding of banking operations and funding structures. Proficiency in preparing and delivering professional presentations and proposals. Fluency in English, both written and spoken. Self-motivated, target-oriented, and capable of thriving under pressure. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within Lusaka. Adherence to high ethical standards and comprehensive knowledge of banking regulations in Zambia.
