Zambia Sugar PLC is an ABF Group sugar company and the leading sugar producer in Zambia. Its main activities are growing sugar cane and producing and marketing sugar and other downstream products. The company invites suitably qualified and experienced applicants to join its Finance Department at Nakambala. Position: Assistant Customs Officer Vacancies: 1 Employment status: Permanent Reports to: Customs Officer Key responsibilities • Ensure compliance with Customs and Excise regulations, statutory requirements and company policies. • Assist in the preparation, review and submission of accurate customs entries through ASYCUDA World. • Receive and review export documentation for completeness and accuracy of supporting documents. • Ensure all required permits, certificates and licences are available before declaration processing. • Update customs records and shipment status information. • Maintain physical customs files and electronic records. • Track customs documents and clearance status. • Assist during customs audits and inspections. • Administer and reconcile export acquittal documentation, ensuring completeness, accuracy and timely filing. • Assist in preparing and submitting duty drawback claims. • Maintain a record of documents submitted for duty drawback outstanding entries to avoid time-barred claims. • Ensure ASYCUDA export transactions and invoices are reconciled to payments received from customers. • Assist in ensuring efficient clearing of all business exports and support the commercial team on clearing matters. • Assist in ensuring tax compliance as provided under the Customs and Excise Act. • Assist in ensuring that payment of export fees to the ZRA is made on time. • Assist in monitoring the correct application of trade agreements and preferential schemes, including SADC, COMESA and other relevant trade protocols. • Support the Customs Analyst and Customs Officer on customs administrative matters. • Promote and adhere to ABF procedures, policies and guidelines, including those relating to Safety, Health, Environment, Risk & Quality, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC). Minimum requirements • Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent. • Relevant professional certificate or diploma in Clearing and Forwarding, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field. A Customs Advanced Diploma is an added advantage. • 1–2 years’ experience gained in a similar position, at a similar level or equivalent. • Membership of the Zambia Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport or Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply. Membership of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants is an added advantage. • Applicants must provide certificates verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
