UPND Copperbelt heavyweights, Kabuswe, Mumba lose Chililabombwe, Kantanshi seats
Two senior United Party for National Development (UPND) figures have lost parliamentary seats on the Copperbelt, with former Mines and Mineral Development Minister, Paul Kabuswe, defeated in Chililabombwe and, Anthony Mumba, losing Kantanshi in Mufulira. Kabuswe, who was seeking re-election in Chililabombwe, conceded defeat to Resolute Party (RP) candidate Nosfwa Lupele. Lupele polled 10,920 votes against Kabuswe’s 8,986, out of 24,058 votes cast, according to results announced by the returning officer. In Kantanshi, former Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) national coordinator, Chanda Kabwe, contesting on the RP ticket, defeated UPND’s Mumba.
