Solwezi North Constituency United Party for National Development (UPND) aspiring candidate, Stafford Mulusa, says residents of North-western Province are in full support of the party and President Hakainde Hichilema.

Mr Mulusa has refuted claims that the party has lost popularity in the province, noting that people are happy with the works of the UPND administration and have confidence in the President and the party’s progressive reforms.

Speaking to the media in Solwezi District, Mr Mulusa said the development achieved in the last five years, is an indication of the current administration’s commitment towards economic transformation of the province and the country as a whole.

He indicated that unlike social media claims that North-western Province has been denied development, the province is on a path of greater transformation with on-going projects.

Mr Mulusa, who is Solwezi Central Constituency immediate past Member of Parliament, empasised that UPND is an action oriented party which stands on truth and hard work.

He added that President Hichilema’ investment in different sectors of the economy, is a clear indication of well-meaning leadership that puts the needs of citizens first.

He has urged Zambians to vote for the UPND and President Hichilema for continuity of good progressive policies.

Meanwhile, President Hakainde Hichilema has assured the people of Nangoma Constituency of a bright mining prospect for them, especially the youths.

President Hichilema says the mineral resources must benefit the local people noting that minerals should however, be extracted legally and in a safe environment.

Addressing the people of Nangoma Constituency in Senior Chief Shakumbila’s area, Mr Hichilema said government is working round the clock to establish a gold washing plant and market to ensure the local people sell their minerals at a profit.

“No parent would send children where they will die. We are not stopping you from mining, we want you to mine safely. We don’t want you to use mercury to clean your gold because it will pollute the environment and water sources,” Mr Hichilema said.

President Hichilema said government will open a gold washing plant and market as well as bring ZCCM to ensure the local people can mine safely and at a profit without polluting the environment and water bodies.

The President stressed that government is upgrading the Farmers – Nalubanda and Nangoma roads to the bituminous standard.

The Head of State urged the people of Nangoma to vote for all United Party for National Development (UPND) candidates for the sustenance of various social protection programmes.

He declared that once re-elected, he will ensure that the feeder roads in Nangoma Constituency are worked on to accelerate trade.

And Mr Hichilema said he will consider the appeal by Senior Chief Shakumbila of the Sala people of giving Nangoma Constituency a district status.

“His Royal Highness has caught me off guard. I have heard the appeal to upgrade Nangoma to a district hospital and I will look into that,” the President assured.

And Senior Chief Shakumbila of Mumbwa and Shibuyunji Districts in Central Province has endorsed President Hichilema for the August 13 General Elections.

The traditional leader has also urged his subjects to vote for all UPND candidates during the August polls.

The Chief said President Hichilema deserved a second term merited by various developmental projects in his chiefdom and employment of local youths into public service.
