President Hakainde Hichilema has assured  residents of Sinazongwe District of Southern Province that the 300 megawatts  thermal power plant under construction by Maamba Energy Limited will soon be completed to address the country’s power deficit challenge.

Speaking when he had a community engagement in Sinazongwe, President Hichilema confirmed that another 100mw solar plant will be completed to increase power generation in the district.

Besides the energy sector, President Hichilema has also promised the people of Sinazongwe that two boarding schools will be constructed in Kariba and Sinazongwe Constituencies respectively, to complement the free education policy.

The Head of State added that the government will also continue with provision of desks for the learners.

The President further stated that a district hospital will be constructed to enhance the health care services in the district.

He has also hinted that once the government is voted back into power, Sinazongwe Skills Training Centre will be constructed for youths to acquire skills within their locality.

The President added that recreational facilities will be constructed for youths to spend their energy constructively.

He also pledged the rehabilitation of township roads to improve the transport network system in the district.
