Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary, Joe Kalusa has urged farmers in Rufunsa District, to sell their maize to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA), describing the agency as a reliable and guaranteed market for their produce.

Mr Kalusa says the FRA has opened 22 satellite depots across the district to enable farmers to easily access the market.

He further encouraged farmers to open bank and mobile money accounts to facilitate smooth and secure payment transactions for produce sold to the agency.

Mr Kalusa said Government has continued implementing the Food Security Pack (FSP) Programme to improve food security among vulnerable but viable households.

He disclosed that for the 2026/2027 farming season, Rufunsa District has been allocated 1,751 households under the programme.

Mr Kalusa said to support implementation of the programme, the district has received 4,248 by 50-kilogram bags of fertiliser, comprising D Compound and Urea.

He added that the district has also received 2,124 bags of 10-kilogramme legume seed and 2,124 bags of 10-kilogram white maize seed, with the programme being implemented across the entire district.

Meanwhile, Mr Kalusa said a total of 12,142 smallholder farmers are expected to benefit from the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) during the 2026/2027 farming season.
