Daka had started Hamburg’s season opener against Borussia Dortmund, which ended in a 2-0 defeat in Dortmund.
The Zambian forward was a casualty of the four changes coach Merlin Polzin made to his starting eleven following the opening-day loss.
Polzin handed debuts to David Møller Wolfe, Zakaria El Ouahdi, Bilal Nadir and Terem Moffi.
Daka, however, came off the bench at halftime. He was introduced by Polzin just after the break with Hamburg already 2-0 down.
He replaced Martin Adeline in the 46th minute and played the entire second half.
The defeat leaves Hamburg bottom of the Bundesliga table* with *no points and no goals after two games.
They have conceded 7 goals in that period.
According to BBC Sport statistics, Daka made 12 passes and created one chance in his 45 minutes but did not have a shot on target.
Daka joined Hamburg in July 2025 after five years at Leicester City, a spell that saw the club suffer two relegations from the Premier League to League One.
Before England, he starred in Austria with Red Bull Salzburg.
Internationally, Daka is expected to lead the Chipolopolo frontline in next month’s back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Zambia will face Algeria away on 25 September in match-day One, before hosting Togo at home three days later on 28 September.
