Kasama Municipal Council Town Clerk John Mwanza said the project, which is being funded through the 2024 Constituency Development Fund (CDF), is set to provide a modern, accessible facility aimed at improving service delivery for persons with disabilities in Northern Province.
Mr Mwanza described the development as a milestone in promoting inclusivity and enhancing the operational capacity of ZAPD in the region.
“This is more than just a building, it is a statement of commitment to the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities,” he said.
He indicated that once operational, the facility will serve as a hub for advocacy, skills training, and community outreach programmes.
And ZAPD Northern Province Officer Jane Mulenga expressed optimism that the new offices will not only improve access to essential services but also create opportunities for economic empowerment among persons with disabilities.
Ms Mulenga noted that with finishing touches now underway, the Kasama ZAPD Provincial Offices stand as a symbol of progress, an investment in infrastructure that reflects the nations broader vision for inclusivity and equal opportunity.
DENDASH construction Company Project Supervisor Joe Munthali, said the new offices will feature a state-of-the-art conference hall, a self-contained office for the provincial coordinator, and modern ablution facilities designed to meet universal accessibility standards.
“The building is designed to give access to every person who will be coming to seek services without difficulties and we are almost done with major works we are just doing some final touches” said the Project Supervisor
Mr. Munthali added that the building’s design incorporates ramps, wide doorways, and tactile signage to ensure ease of use for all clients.
He stated that the works are expected to be completed and handed over before the end of this month, marking a significant step forward in decentralizing disability-related services in the region.
