Vote with your brains, not with your stomachs, Hichilema urges Luangwa electorate

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has called on the people of Luangwa District in Lusaka Province to vote with their brains rather than their stomachs, saying leadership choices should be guided by wisdom and the country’s future, not immediate needs.

Addressing a rally in Luangwa this afternoon, President Hichilema said while hunger can influence people’s decisions, voters should look beyond today’s challenges and consider what will benefit them and future generations

“Vote with your brains, not with your stomachs. To vote, you use your wisdom. You use your head, not your stomach. Your stomach only wants to eat today, but your brain thinks about tomorrow and the future,” he said.

The President added that hunger can sometimes drive people to act irrationally, saying a parent may even beat their own child when overwhelmed by hunger, but once they have eaten, they quickly forget.

“When we are hungry, we can even beat a child at home. But when you eat, you forget. The head never forgets. We are coming from problems. There was suffering under the PF,” President Hichilema said.

He urged the electorate to carefully consider the country’s future when casting their votes, insisting that decisions made at the ballot box should be based on long-term development rather than short-term circumstances.
