UPND’s Alexander Mumba Sakala has been officially declared Member of Parliament for Matero Constituency after polling 24,129 votes.

The race was marked by confusion after Resolute Party candidate Patrick Salubusa took an early lead. Counting was later suspended amid social media speculation, including an alleged post attributed to Sakala conceding defeat.

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) resumed the process and confirmed Sakala’s victory. Salubusa polled 18,614 votes.
