TRIDENT College Solwezi has announced the death of one of its learners, Praise Stanley Banda, who the school says died while travelling back to school with his father.

The school says Praise’s academic achievements were extraordinary, adding that the learner was among Zambia’s most accomplished young mathematicians of his generation.

“Praise joined Trident as an FQML Scholar in 2025, having distinguished himself as one of Zambia’s most talented young students.

“His academic achievements were extraordinary: he was on track to achieve A* grades in all four of his chosen A Level subjects, while his outstanding 100% in AS Level Mathematics placed him among the most accomplished young mathematicians of his generation,” states the school.

The school adds that Praise’s exceptional ability meant that he was often spoken of as someone who could have excelled at any university in the world.

According to the school, Praise died on August 24, 2026, in a motor vehicle accident while travelling back to school in a private vehicle with his father.

The school has described Praise as an amazingly gifted, endlessly curious and deeply humble learner whose greatest quality was his willingness to use his abilities to benefit others.

“His love of learning, humanity and kindness will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege to call him a friend,” the school states.

The school has extended its condolences to the Banda family.

“To the Banda family, we extend our deepest condolences. May you be surrounded by love, comfort and strength in this time of profound loss,” the school states.
