LUSAKA, July 28, 2026 – Southern Province Permanent Secretary Dr. Namani Monze has died at the age of 52.
Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa confirmed the death in a statement issued on Tuesday, saying Dr. Monze died at Choma General Hospital following an illness.
“It is with deep sorrow that I announce the passing of Southern Province Permanent Secretary, Dr. Namani Monze, aged 52. Dr. Monze passed away today, Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Choma General Hospital after an illness,” Kangwa said.
Dr. Monze served as the government’s chief administrative officer in Southern Province, overseeing the implementation of government policies and coordinating development programmes across the province.
As Permanent Secretary, he worked closely with ministries, local authorities and other stakeholders in spearheading public service delivery and the implementation of various government projects.
His death comes as a shock to many within the Civil Service, where he was regarded as a dedicated public servant with years of experience in government administration.
Messages of condolence are expected to pour in from government officials, political leaders and members of the public following news of his passing.
Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa conveyed government’s condolences to Dr. Monze’s family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family and government in due course.
Dr. Monze leaves behind a legacy of public service and commitment to national development during his tenure in Zambia’s Civil Service.
