POLICE in Lusaka have arrested seven men in connection with the murder of Stelios Sardinis, 64, chief executive officer of Chaminuka Resort, and an aggravated robbery at the property.

The incident occurred between 1 a.m. and 1:15 a.m. on Aug. 9 at Chaminuka Lodge in Chisamba District, police said Tuesday. Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi said four suspects were arrested earlier and three others were taken into custody on Aug. 11 in Lusaka. All seven suspects are residents of Lusaka and remain in police custody. Investigations are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the murder and robbery, as well as the role of each suspect, Chilabi said. Police cautioned the public against attributing political motives to the case without verified information. “This is a serious criminal investigation involving the loss of life and must be allowed to proceed professionally,” Chilabi said. He urged the public to refrain from spreading rumors or unverified information, particularly on social media, saying it may affect the investigation and cause further distress to the family of the deceased.
