PF beat, and wanted to kill me in Sesheke, Hichilema tells Mazabuka electorate
PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has alleged that the Patriotic Front—PF once plotted to kill him in Sesheke, claiming that a month after the alleged incident, the people behind the plan were seen drinking Gary Nkombo’s place in Kafue.

Addressing a campaign rally in Mazabuka, President Hichilema urged voters to back the UPND in the August 13, 2026 general elections, arguing that doing so would safeguard the gains made under his administration.
“They beat me up in PF, and they wanted to kill me in Sesheke. One month later, the people who wanted to kill me were drinking at Gary Nkombo’s place in Kafue,” President Hichilema said.

The Head of State also reflected on what he described as political intolerance under the previous administration, claiming that supporters wearing red clothing were often assaulted upon arriving at Lusaka’s InterCity Bus Terminus.
“If you wore a red T-shirt and travelled to Lusaka, you would get beaten on arrival at InterCity Bus Terminus. Now you walk freely. Do you want to go back to being beaten, or do you want the freedom you’re enjoying now to continue?” he asked.
President Hichilema said Zambians should vote in an organised manner to preserve ongoing development programmes, including free education.

“If we vote in a disorganised way, we’ll lose the good things we already have. Do you want free education to continue? Vote for the UPND on August 13, 2026,” he said.
He further pledged that a re-elected UPND government would continue investing in infrastructure and public services, including completing the dual carriageway from Lusaka to Livingstone.

President Hichilema also announced plans to upgrade Mazabuka District Hospital into a full general hospital, citing the district’s growing population.

In addition, he said government intends to establish a skills training centre in Mazabuka to equip young people with vocational skills and improve employment opportunities.

The President also criticised some opposition alliance leaders, noting that they had previously served as ministers in the PF government.
“Those two boys were ministers in the PF. One was a minister in Northern Province and the other in Eastern Province. The one who was Minister of Home Affairs, who used to gas us, is also in the Alliance,” he said.
