MTN CHAIRMAN MCEBISI JONAS SAYS SOUTH AFRICA’S PROBLEMS WILL NOT DISAPPEAR EVEN IF ALL FOREIGN NATIONALS LEAVE THE COUNTRY, SAYING GOVERNANCE FAILURES MUST ALSO BE ADDRESSED
MTN Chairman Mcebisi Jonas says South Africa’s biggest challenges would still exist even if all foreign nationals left the country tomorrow. According to Jonas, while immigration remains an important issue that needs to be properly managed, it should not distract from the country’s deeper governance and service delivery problems.
He argued that issues such as corruption, poor governance, unemployment, failing municipalities and weak service delivery are major factors behind many of the country’s current challenges. Jonas said these problems require urgent attention if South Africa is to achieve long-term economic growth and stability.
His remarks have sparked debate on social media, with some agreeing that governance failures are the country’s biggest challenge, while others argue that illegal immigration must also be dealt with more effectively.
Do you agree with Mcebisi Jonas that South Africa’s challenges would remain even if all foreign nationals left, or do you believe immigration is the country’s biggest problem?
