MORE losing UPND parliamentary candidates have petitioned the courts, challenging the outcomes of the August 13 parliamentary elections and alleging electoral malpractices.

In Mwenzo Constituency, Muchinga Province, Musingwa Siame has challenged the election of Luka Simumba, alleging violence, vote buying, intimidation and other irregularities during the campaign and polling period.

In Isoka Constituency, Marjorie Nakaponda has challenged the election of Malozo Sichone, who was declared winner with 7,020 votes against Ms Nakaponda’s 5,110.

Meanwhile, in Mambilima Constituency, Luapula Province, Nasir Kashiba has challenged the election of Jean Chisenga, who polled 8,159 votes against Mr Kashiba’s 4,142.

Mr Kashiba alleges that Ms Chisenga and her supporters used violence, threats and intimidation against voters and electoral officials.

He is seeking the nullification of the election result, a declaration that Ms Chisenga’s election is void and an order for a fresh election.
