PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema pledged more development for Pemba District in Southern Province, including road works, jobs and continued support for agriculture, as he campaigned ahead of the Aug. 13 general election.

Hichilema told residents his government will continue working for them.

“We will continue to work for you nobana Pemba District in Southern Province,” he said.

He said roads, including the Kasiya road, “will be worked.” He also promised more jobs, more business opportunities and the continuation of “peace, love and unity.”

The President emphasized agriculture, saying “we are farmers and we will ensure that this sector continues receiving attention.”

Hichilema defended government programs, saying free education “is here to stay.”

“We have delivered in some sectors but more work is yet to be done. Don’t get misled,” he said.

He asked voters in Pemba to support his party in the upcoming election in order for the projects to continue.

“In order for these great things and many more to be done, we call on you to vote for us this August,” he said.

“This formed part of our message to the wonderful people of Pemba District today. May God Bless Zambia,” he added.

Zambia goes to the polls on Aug. 13.
