HICHILEMA LEADS MUNDUBILE IN VIRAL ONLINE POLL AS PRESIDENTIAL RACE HEATS UP.
President Hakainde Hichilema has narrowly outperformed Toonse Pamodzi Alliance presidential candidate Brian Mundubile in an online opinion poll conducted by the Facebook page Fashion Police Zambia, with the two leaders accounting for the overwhelming majority of votes cast.
According to the published results, President Hichilema received 30,098 votes (50%), while Brian Mundubile followed closely with 27,047 votes (45%).
Citizen First president Harry Kalaba came third with 1,789 votes (3%), while the remaining presidential candidates each received less than 1% of the total votes.
The poll has generated considerable debate on social media, with supporters of both Hichilema and Mundubile claiming it demonstrates strong public backing for their respective candidates.
The figures suggest that the contest between the two front-runners remains highly competitive, at least among those who participated in the online survey.
However, it is important to note that online polls are not scientific opinion surveys and are not representative of the national electorate.
Participation is voluntary and limited to users of the platform on which the poll was conducted, meaning the results should not be interpreted as a prediction of the outcome of the August general election.
The official election results will be determined by votes cast on polling day and announced by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ).
