PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has warned Nchelenge-Chienge road contractor that “he will deal with them” if they continue being slow in the construction of the road.
And President Hichilema says Brian Mundubile and Makebi Zulu cannot not work on the roads in Luapula because they failed to do so when they had an opportunity for 10 years.
Meanwhile, President Hichilema says he does not want to see queues at the bank when farmers deliver their maize to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA).
Speaking during a community engagement in Chienge District, Luapula Province, Saturday, President Hichilema said he would talk to the contractor working the Nchelenge-Chienge road to ensure that he speeds up the construction of the road.
“We are voting for peace on August 13. What else are we voting for? We are voting for social cash transfer to continue. What are we voting for? We are voting for cash for work to continue. We are voting for the quick completion of the Nchelenge-Chienge road. I know the contractor is slow. I am going to deal with him. If he is playing, I will deal with this contractor. We are voting on the 13th so that we can have Mwabu Bridge. We are voting for Chansa Bridge. We are voting for Akafymbulu bridge. We want good bridges all along that road. We do not want to play. If you do not vote for us, you are disturbing that project. Ba mukukulu, ba pompwe they have different ideas. They like eating government money, your money. If you vote for them, they will eat all the money,” he said.
President Hichilema told Chiengi residents that their vote would ensure government increases FRA satellite depots.
“I know that if they come back to the government, they will not do this road. They were in government for 10 years; why didn’t they do the road? So, they are saying they want to come back. What do they want to do? Why didn’t they do these roads for the 10 years they were in government? Do not be deceived the people of Chienge. Why didn’t they do the roads? They were in power for 10 years. These two boys were all ministers under PF. Why didn’t they work on the roads in Luapula? They were saying Luapula is their strong hold. Why didn’t they do these roads? Why didn’t they build the bridges? Do not listen to them, they are liars. Lies in the morning, lies in the afternoon and in the evening that’s who they are. Your vote will help us rehabilitate the roads,” he said.
“Your vote will help us bring a skills training centre here in Chienge. Your vote will allow us to bring banking facilities here in Chienge. Your vote will help us to increase FRA satellite depots here in Chienge. Your vote will allow to construct more health centres in Chiengi”.
And speaking during a community engagement in Kawambwa, President Hichilema said farmers who would deliver their maize to FRA would receive their money digitally via mobile money accounts.
“Your vote will ensure that going forward people will no longer share fertilizer in medas. We are going to increase the number of beneficiaries on fertilizer and seed going forward so that you do not have to share the fertilizer. So, FRA will be opening the depots soon. This year, I do not want to see queues at the banks. You will deliver your maize quickly and you will get paid within two, three days through digital money, mobile money. No more queues at the bank. Your vote will allow us to improve and complete the works at Kawambwa Mporokoso road,” he said.
He said the UPND government was working to grow the economy adding that Kawambwa would become an industrial centre of Luapula.
“We are working to grow the economy as you have seen here in Kawambwa. We have now brought electricity grids to Kawambwa, the sugar farms, everything avocado. We have brought power here. We are demonstrating that when we say something, we deliver. When we say these things, we deliver on these things. Kawambwa will be the industrial centre of Luapula province. We will put more investment in Kawambwa. It means more jobs. More business opportunities for the people of Kawambwa. Your vote will allow us to fully complete the district hospital, including the construction of wards,” he said.
Meanwhile, addressing the people in Nchelenge, President Hichilema said all nurses and teachers who were volunteering and were present during the engagement would be employed by the end of August.
“If your neighbour has been employed, your cousin or nephew and you are not employed do not complain you are the next one to be employed. All those teachers and nurses on voluntary employment, I am directing that by next month end of August they will be employed. Are you happy, nurses, and teachers? You should vote for UPND on August 13. Are you clear? Do not play. Also, I know we have deaf teachers around here. Even them they will be employed. Now, I want the list of these to be given to my candidates. Make sure you get their names and details, and we will start processing their employment by the end of next month. So, you are the next one. See how we love you,” he said.
The President said the Nchelenge Hospital would be commissioned soon with an oxygen plant fully installed.
“So, we are voting for improvement of roads. Kashiki-Munuga-Kaputa-Mporokoso road. We will make sure we complete these roads. Nchelenge to Matanda road we will work on it nicely. We want to revive the Kenani rubber plantation. We want to get an investor to come here with recapitalization so that youths can get jobs. You are voting for UPND so that we restock the fish Mwelu here, Mwelu Wa ntipa, this side. That is what you are voting for. Nchelenge Hospital will be commissioned with an oxygen plant very soon. This road from Kashiki, Nchelenge going to Mwasambomwe into Mansa. I know it needs repairs and I am here to commit that we will repair the roads,” said President Hichilema.
