President Hakainde Hichilema has assured residents of Chongwe district that the government is committed to improving water supply in the area as part of its continued efforts to enhance access to essential services.

Speaking during a community engagement in Chongwe, President Hichilema urged residents to vote for the United Party for National Development (UPND) in the August 13 elections, to enable the party to continue implementing development programmes across the country.

The President said the government has recorded significant achievements since assuming office, citing free education, increased Constituency Development Funds (CDF) allocations and expanded infrastructure development as some of the notable milestones.

“We are asking the people of Chongwe to support the UPND because of the massive development that Zambia has experienced under this administration, including the introduction of free education,” President Hichilema said.

He further urged Zambians to safeguard the peace and stability the country is currently enjoying, adding that the government remains committed to promoting unity and rejecting violence.

President Hichilema also advised voters against electing independent candidates, saying they may not effectively support the implementation of government programmes.

On agriculture, the President assured farmers that the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) would soon announce this year’s maize purchase price and that farmers will be paid promptly after delivering their produce.

Chongwe East Aspiring Parliamentary Candidate Sylvia Masebo highlighted the achievements recorded under the UPND administration, particularly through the implementation of Constituency Development Funds (CDF) projects.

Ms Masebo thanked President Hichilema for visiting Chongwe East Constituency and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to improving the welfare of residents.

The President also assured residents that the government will continue creating employment opportunities for young people through various economic empowerment and development programmes.
