President Hakainde Hichilema has reaffirmed government’s commitment to accelerating the completion of the Kashikishi-Lunchinda Road in Chienge District.

Speaking during a community engagement at Chienge Primary School, President Hichilema said the government was aware of the slow progress on the Kashikishi-Lunchinda Road and has taken note of concerns regarding the contractor.

The Head of State said his administration remains focused on delivering development to all parts of the country in a multi sector approach covering education, health, infrastructure and social protection programmes.

That he urged citizens to support the continuation of the government’s development agenda, citing free education, the Social Cash Transfer programme, employment creation and infrastructure development as some of the achievements that should be sustained.

“I know the contractor is slow, and we will engage him to ensure the works are expedited because the people deserve this road,” President Hichilema said.

And the President also assured the people that government will complete the construction of Lwau Bridge and rehabilitate the Chienge-Lambwe Chomba Road.

The head of state explained that renewing the mandate of the UPND Administration would facilitate establishment of a skills training centre, expand banking services, construct more health facilities, continue the school feeding programme under free education and provide additional desks to schools in Chienge district.

President Hichilema further announced that volunteers serving in various sectors would be employed.

Mr Hichilema also thanked the people of Chienge for supporting him and UPND during the 2021 General Elections, appealing for continued support to enable the government to complete ongoing development projects.

Meanwhile, Chienge Constituency UPND candidate, Favourite Musangu said the constituency overwhelmingly supported President Hichilema in the 2021 General Election by giving him more than 18,800 votes.

Ms Musangu expressed confidence that the people of Chienge would once again rally behind Mr Hichilema in the forthcoming general elections because of the government’s continued delivery of development programmes, including free education and other socio-economic initiatives.

And Kalungwishi Constituency UPND candidate, Diamond Mushota said the UPND in the area had received 200 defectors who had joined the party.

Mr Mushota said the decision by the defectors to join the UPND reflected growing confidence in the leadership of President Hichilema and the government’s commitment to delivering development across the country.
