Government has revoked the passports of six individuals, among them former Ambassador to Ethiopia Emmanuel Mwamba, on security grounds.

Home Affairs and Internal Security Permanent Secretary Dickson Matembo has confirmed the development to ZNBC News.

According to Government Gazette Notice Number 1421 of 2026, the passports have been revoked for security reasons.

Others affected are former Petauke Member of Parliament Emmanuel Jay Banda, former Nkana Member of Parliament Binwell Mpundu and former Special Assistant to the President for Politics in the Patriotic Front administration, Kaiser Zulu.

The other two are academician Sishuwa Sishuwa and social media vlogger Lillian Mutambo.

The individuals have been directed to immediately surrender the passports to the Department of National Registration, Passport and Citizenship, Immigration or the Zambia Police Service.

The Gazette further states that the revoked passports are no longer valid for identification, travel or any official purpose.

It warns that any use of the cancelled documents may constitute an offence.
