GHANA TELLS MTN KEEP YOUR 20 MILLION WE HAVE OUR OWN MONEY

Ghana’s government has rejected a GH¢20 million donation from MTN for citizens affected by xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the Mahama administration has already made adequate provision for evacuations and reintegration.

The government commends MTN for the offer. But it respectfully declines.

The decision was communicated to MTN’s board chair and CEO on August 14. The government says it has the resources to bring every Ghanaian back home.

A comprehensive account of evacuation costs will be presented to the public once the operation is concluded. Transparency and accountability.

Ghana says it will continue to create the best business ecosystem for all international brands operating in the country. Regardless of where they come from.

The welfare of all Ghanaians remains the utmost priority.
