FINAL PRESIDENTIAL RESULTS EXPECTED ON MONDAY -ECZ

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) says voting in some parts of the country  has continued beyond the stipulated time of 18.00 hours due  to logistical challenges that resulted in delays.

Speaking during a  briefing at the National totaling center, ECZ Chief Electoral Officer Brown Kasaro cited a polling station in Mungwi, which opened at 15:00 hours but that  voting would continue to ensure that the 12-hour voting period is completed.

Meanwhile,  vote counting is underway in  most parts of the country following the close of voting.

Kasaro also said  Lusaka and Copperbelt have recorded a high turnout as compared to other  provinces.

He said provisional election results  are expected to start trickling in tonight  with most of them  expected to be known by Friday.

The final presidential election results are expected to be announced on Monday, August 17,2026.
