ECZ PROVIDES UPDATE ON THE 2026 GENERAL ELECTIONS
The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has provided an update on the ongoing electoral process.
The following are some of the key highlights from the update:
✅️Extended voting period: The ECZ has extended voting hours at all polling stations that opened late to ensure that voters are afforded an equal opportunity to cast their ballots.
✅️Taking photographs of marked ballot papers is prohibited: Voters are reminded to desist from capturing or taking photographs of marked ballot papers. The ECZ has warned that doing so is an offence and those found in violation will be prosecuted.
✅️Investigation into sharing of ballot paper images: The ECZ will investigate individuals sharing images of marked ballot papers showing how they voted, and appropriate action will be taken in accordance with the law.
As voting continues in some polling stations, the Ministry urges the public to adhere to the law and follow official guidance from the ECZ.
