DON’T QUESTION COURT CLOSURE, IT’S FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY” – KABESHA

Attorney General Mulilo Kabesha has urged Zambians not to question the closure of courts, saying the decision was taken for the safety of the public and judicial officers.

The Lusaka High Court and several judicial complexes countrywide were closed on Monday, with armed police officers deployed to seal off the premises.

The Judiciary cited security concerns for the closure, which came amid heightened tensions following the disputed political developments after the August 13 general election.

Kabesha says the public should trust that the decision was made in their best interest, stressing that the closure was a precautionary measure intended to protect lives.

The courts are expected to reopen today, Thursday, August 27, following the Judiciary’s announcement that the security threat had de-escalated.
