DISABILITY ACTIVIST REPORTS NRPUP PRESIDENT TO POLICE OVER SELF-DECLARED ELECTION VICTORY.
Disability civil rights activist Jonah Sialumano has reported NRPUP President Brian Mundubile to the police for declaring himself the winner of the 2026 general elections.
He says the action by Mr. Mundubile violates Zambia’s electoral code of conduct.
Speaking to journalists at Monze Central Police Station immediately after filing the report, Mr. Sialumano described Mr. Mundubile’s behaviour as unacceptable and capable of sparking serious conflict that could lead to loss of life.
He has called on the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to suspend Mr. Mundubile from the race so that other candidates would be deterred from similar conduct.
Mr. Sialumano has since warned that if the commission fails to suspend Mr. Mundubile, persons with disabilities will march to the Mulungushi International Conference Centre to protest against both the ECZ and the NRPUP leader.
Meanwhile, the Zambia Federation of the Blind has condemned Mr. Mundubile’s self-pronouncement, describing it as misleading and a threat to national security.
Federation Vice President Lazarous Hakalebula told the media that the declaration risks destabilizing the country and undermines the electoral process.
