SOCIAL media content creator Gezile Mwale, 23, has been arrested and charged for allegedly producing and circulating obscene material, police said Monday.

Police Spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi said that between July 22 and July 27, 2026, Mwale allegedly participated in the production of videos depicting herself and other individuals engaged in obscene acts and circulated them on various social media platforms.

“The matter was reported to the Zambia Police Service Anti-Cyber Crime Unit on July 27, 2026, prompting investigations conducted jointly with the Zambia Cyber Security Agency,” Chilabi said.

He said preliminary investigations led to Mwale’s identification and arrest.

Chilabi added that other individuals believed to have been involved remain at large, and efforts to locate and apprehend them are ongoing.

“The suspect has been formally charged and remains in police custody pending her appearance in court,” he said.

Chilabi further cautioned the public that the production, possession, publication, and circulation of obscene material are offences under the laws of Zambia.
