National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) Member of Parliament for Chadiza West, Obert Phiri, has pledged to work with the ruling UPND and President Hakainde Hichilema to deliver development to the constituency.

Phiri said collaboration with government is the only way Chadiza West will develop and that “time for politics is over.”

“What Chadiza needs now is development. The people voted for me to work, and that is what I will do,” he said.

The parliamenterian observed that most roads and bridges in Chadiza West are in a deplorable state and need to be fixed as a matter of urgency.

He further pledged to consult traditional leaders before embarking on any project, saying chiefs understand the problems facing the people better than anyone else.

“I will ensure that I work closely with our chiefs because they are custodians of the people and know where the challenges are,” Phiri stated.

Phiri, whose election is being petitioned in court by losing UPND candidate Jonathan Daka, called for peace and unity as he begins his five-year term in office.

He urged residents to remain united regardless of political affiliation and to support efforts aimed at improving livelihoods in the constituency.
