Zambian representatives Red Arrows have advanced to the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup after a dominant 4-0 aggregate win over FC Rouge of Madagascar.
The Airmen completed the job on Sunday afternoon with a 2-0 victory in the return leg played in Port Louis, Mauritius.
Rouge are hosting home games in Mauritius because Madagascar has no CAF-certified stadium.
Forward Ackim Mumba was the hero, scoring in both halves to seal progress.
He opened the scoring in the 23rd minute and added his second in the 55th minute.
Arrows had already beaten Rouge 2-0 in the first leg a week ago at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, Ndola.
That makes it a commanding double for Chisi Mbewe’s side.
Red Arrows now face a massive test in the Second Preliminary Round.
They will take on South African giants Kaizer Chiefs.
The first leg is scheduled for 16-18 October and the return leg for 23-25 October.
The winners advance to the Confederation Cup group stage.
Arrows’ progress comes as welcome news for Zambia after Power Dynamos were eliminated from the CAF Champions League on Saturday.
Power lost 1-0 at home to Al Merrikh in Ndola, and went out 2-0 on aggregate after losing the first leg 1-0 in Kigali.
