Airtel Zambia, one of Zambia’s major and leading mobile network providers, which is also listed on the Lusaka Securities Exchange, has continued to dominate in terms of market turnover per equity.
Interestingly, the stockbrokers’ report for the market period ending 17th July showed that Airtel was ranked as the highest turnover contributor at 60.9%.
Further, the report indicates that Airtel had a volume of 37.5 thousand with a market turnover of K6.9 million ($380.1 thousand). According to a broker whose name is withheld, Airtel’s positive performance in terms of market turnover is partly attributed to the company’s attainment of the $1 billion market capitalization.
Speaking in an interview with the Zambian Business Times, the broker noted that the milestone has triggered more investors wanting to get into their portfolio. “We have noticed that after Airtel reached the $1 billion market capitalization, more and more investors are seeking to enter their portfolio in terms of buying or adding their shares,” she added.
This reflects an increased demand for Airtel shares, and increased market turnover, which are attributed to a strong investor confidence and a significantly improved market conditions.
