A FAKE ELECTION DOCUMENT CIRCULATING IS MISINFORMATION SAYS EU EOM.

The European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) has sounded the alarm over a fabricated document circulating on social media and falsely presented as an official statement concerning the verification of Gen 20 forms.

The Mission has categorically rejected the document, making it clear that it was neither issued nor endorsed by the EU Election Observation Mission Zambia 2026.

The warning comes at a highly sensitive moment as Zambia anxiously follows the verification and consolidation of election results, with political tensions and public interest continuing to rise.

The fake document appears to have been designed to give the impression of an official communication by using EU EOM photographs, the European Union flag and the Mission’s logo.

However, the EU EOM has warned that such imagery does not make information authentic.

The Mission has also reiterated that it is independent and impartial and does not support any candidate or political party.

The emergence of the fabricated statement has raised fresh concerns over the growing spread of misinformation during the electoral process.

In an environment where every announcement and election document is being closely scrutinised, false information can rapidly spread, trigger unnecessary fear and anger, and deepen public suspicion.

The EU EOM has therefore urged Zambians to exercise extreme caution and verify information before sharing it.

The Mission has directed the public to its official communication channels for authentic information, including its website, eueomzambia2026.eu.
