Police in Lusaka have arrested and charged content creator Gezile Smith Mwale, aged 23, for allegedly producing and distributing obscene videos on social media.

Police Service Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi confirmed the arrest in a statement.

Mwale said the identified suspect was arrested on 27th July 2026 following a report to the Anti-Cyber Crime Unit.

It is alleged that between 22nd and 27th July 2026, Gezile acted together with other persons to produce videos depicting persons engaged in obscene acts.

It is further alleged she circulated the said videos on various social media platforms.

“Preliminary investigations led to the identification and arrest of the suspect. Other persons believed to have been involved remain at large, and efforts to locate and apprehend them are ongoing,”Chilabi stated.

He added that Gezile has been formally charged with Production of Obscene Matters or Things contrary to Section 177 of the Penal Code, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia, and is currently in police custody pending court appearance.

“The Service warns that anyone found engaging in such acts will be prosecuted,” Chilabi added.
